Classes at Studio EMBA
Pilates
Developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century, pilates involves a series of controlled movements that target the core muscles, emphasises breath control, precision and proper alignment. We aim to improve strength, flexibility and posture, promoting mind-body connection. We adapt each exercise to individual needs and fitness levels using different small equipment in each class to enhance our practice.
Reformer
Reformer pilates enhances strength, flexibility and overall body conditioning. The class typically offers a mix of controlled movements, emphasising core activation and activating and engaging precise mucle groups.. The reformer adds resistance to challenge and tone, providing a comprehensive and adaptable experience. Super fun, super addictive.
Barre
Barre is a dynamic workout that combines elements of pilates, ballet and strength training. We use a ballet barre for support whilst performing small isometric movements targeting specific muscle groups. The class often incorporates light weights, resistance bands and bodyweight exercises to sculpt the arms, legs, glutes and core. We focus on precision and control, aiming to improve flexibility, posture and overall muscular tone and endurance.
Yoga
Yoga is an ancient practice encompassing physical, mental, and spiritual disciplines. It involves a series of postures combined with breath control and meditation techniques. The practice aims to promote physical strength, flexibility, and balance, as well as mental clarity and inner peace. There are numerous styles of yoga at Emba, ranging from dynamic Vinyasa flows to more gentle and meditative styles such as Hatha and Yin.
Attending Your First Class
Stepping into a new studio can feel intimidating, especially with so many classes to choose from. But we've got you covered. All of our Pilates and Yoga classes on the schedule are suitable for beginners (with the exception of Pilates Sculpt), giving you a wide variety of options to explore. We also offer dedicated Beginner Reformer classes, which are the perfect starting point if you're new to the Reformer.
There's no membership required and no long-term commitment. Just grab a single class pass and come see what we're all about. Our studio is a truly warm and welcoming space where you'll find friendly faces and a supportive community.
What to Bring
All the equipment you'll need is provided, so you just have to bring yourself. We recommend a bottle of water to stay hydrated. For reformer and barre classes, grip socks are essential for your safety and comfort - grip socks are available to purchase at the studio if you don’t have any. For all other classes, feel free to wear regular socks or go barefoot - whatever makes you feel most comfortable.
We provide mats for all our Pilates and yoga classes, but you're always welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
If you’re unsure which class to attend, take a look at our classes page to find one that suits you, or send us an email and we’ll help you get started.
